There are different versions of the Audyssey MultEQ technology. They are all built around the same core science, but they are optimized to operate within the constraints of available DSP power. Audyssey has implemented its room correction technologies across a wide range of products by adapting the number of measurement positions and the resolution of the equalization filters. Crossover selection, polarity check and setting of delays and level trims are performed with the same level of precision in all implementations.
MultEQ XT
When performed by a professional installer using MultEQ Pro software, MultEQ XT has the capability to deliver the highest quality sound. Because the calculations are performed on a PC, there is an abundance of processing power for a large number of measurements to cover even the most demanding custom installations.
MultEQ
MultEQ takes up to 6 room position measurements, and uses mid-level resolution filters for satellites and subwoofers.
2EQ
2EQ measures 2 room positions, uses a basic resolution filter for the satellites and does not apply a filter to the subwoofers.
Audyssey EQ and Audyssey Equalized
These are preset versions of MultEQ technology. They are designed for
systems that ship with their own speakers, such as 2.1 systems, Home
Theater-in-a-Box (HTiB) systems, Table Radios or Televisions. We work
directly with the manufacturers to precisely measure the system's
performance at our labs to simulate a typical room environment. Audyssey EQ
removes much of the distortion caused by speaker enclosures and the typical
room environment producing greatly improved sound compared to similar
products without correction. Audyssey Equalized includes additional
technologies such as Dynamic EQ and BassXT.
