The Elephant in the Room, is the Room
How MultEQ XT32 won Stereophile’s Accessory of the Year
So you say you’ve got a great living room? Of course you do.
And you’ve got a great entertainment center with a great audio system. Well that’s awesome.
Now why don’t you have the great sound that that guy in that great blue polo promised you?
Because you’ve also got a great couch. You’ve got great floor-to-ceiling windows and a great Norfolk Island Pine in the corner (it really ties your great living room together). That’s a problem. See the elephant in the room… is all that great stuff.
Sound is affected by everything it touches. And it’s bouncing off your windows. It’s being absorbed by your couch. It’s hitting your ears at different times and wreaking audio havoc on your senses. That’s why back in 2002 we developed MultEQ. Personalized sound for your personal living space.
MultEQ XT provided even greater correction.
It’s 2011 now and there’s MultEQ XT32. The latest incarnation of our revolutionary software which takes sound correction further than ever. And Stereophile took notice.
Audyssey’s MultEQ XT32 is now Stereophile’s Accessory of the Year. (The honor should go well with the Innovations Award CES just gave it, but that’s off-topic.)
Accessory of the Year is a difficult title to get. Not only did the reviewers with the nearly 50-year-old monthly think Audyssey’s latest contribution was noteworthy enough to nominate, but also decided it was the best contribution to sound in 2011. Or as they put it, Audyssey’s MultEQ XT32 is “the product that made the biggest splash of all.”
It’s the second time in Audyssey’s 9-year history that it’s been given the award. We also won in 2008 for MultEQ Pro.
Stereophile’s appreciation makes sense. MultEQ XT32 optimizes the acoustics of any room. It’s the most advanced equalization and calibration around, included in many of the leading home-theater systems. The process puts years of research to work measuring all the factors of distortion in any given living space. By registering and timing sound in multiple locations, your system can adjust for distortions and reflections, creating truly optimal sound.
It’s impressive. Says Stereophile anyway.
MultEQ XT32 is the closest reproduction of the original recording in any room. Even if there’s a great big elephant standing right in the middle of it.
