How Smart is Your Speaker?

July 12, 2011

Audyssey speakers are getting smarter all the time.

The march of technology is fed by the simple desire to make things work faster, better, more efficiently… smarter. Want to make more cars? Use an assembly line. Want to fly faster? Use a jet engine. Want to annoy people by the millions? Try spam.

Today, technological improvements generally come from using software and computers. Sooner or later, these things find a way into just about everything and the results are usually stunning. We aren’t giving up our digital cameras, iPods or smart phones because they are far better than the things they replaced. They have the technology.

Audyssey Smart Speaker™ technology is a new development in loudspeaker design. We put our audio software right into the speaker where it controls and changes the speaker as it is playing. We pick the components knowing our technology will be in control, so we get total material-technology synergy. How cool is that? No other speaker is created this way and it is a remarkable innovation your ears (and your pocketbook) will love.

Our speakers can surprise you. We don’t have a massive speaker cabinet or woofer. We don’t have complicated controls. Over the years, our technology has been used in TVs, home theaters, cars, studios and cinemas. We learned a lot and put that experience into play in our speakers.

So our smaller speakers can play bass with authority, get surprisingly loud and make all of your audio sound the way it is supposed to sound. In the future, our Smart Speakers will be able to adjust to the rooms in which they are placed. That is smarter still.

Music flows and constantly changes. But until now, speakers have just been dumb boxes: Some larger than others, some a lot more expensive than others, but not adaptive and certainly not able to pay attention to the audio passing through them. Audyssey has changed all of that. Smart Speaker Technology constantly improves the listening experience and once you have enjoyed the experience, you won’t ever want to go back. Smart.

I just am floored by your Company, and your first rate customer service! I am home sick with the flu, and was listening to my Audyssey Dock, when it occurred to me that there might be a software upgrade for my dock, so I sent an email asking about it, and in less than an hour, I get a response! That is fantastic! And, no, there is no upgrade, but I'm glad I asked.

Not only that but the Company stands behind their product and really give a damn. I can't tell you how many times I have called another Company, or emailed them, only to get voice mail, or an email response in days, or not at all, and this is a big UK Company, and the speakers were $5,000.00 + tax! You would think they would be responsive! But they aren't. And  to make matters worse, they had a faulty power supply in a lot of their first iPod docks, and instead of doing a recall, they remained silent, and repaired or replaced hundreds of units, after the people could not understand what was going on, and out of frustration, called, and found out it was a known problem, and to ship it to them to get it fixed. How much better it would have been to alert their customers that there might be a problem, and if it occurs, they would stand by and fix it, or do a total recall. They did neither, and lost a lot of respect. The problem went viral, it was all over the net. Bad press, bad customer service!
But with Audyssey, if I just have a question about something with my Audyssey Dock, I get someone on the phone ASAP, no voice mail. And if I email, I get a response in an hour or less. As Chris says: "how cool is that!". GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! A rare thing these days! And a FANTASTIC product! I can't wait to see the next thing they bring to market!Proud Audyssey owner,                                  David Jenkins, Atlanta
