Discovering the Sound Equalizer
We attended the Audyssey demo at CEDIA last September. Audyssey played a little Eagles Hell Freezes Over clip with the Sound Equalizer off, and it sounded OK, but then they turned on the Sound Equalizer, and the room disappeared, and instead of having to live with the room acoustics, which were quite poor, the Sound Equalizer took the room out of the equation and made everything sound accurate.
My client’s reaction
He was absolutely amazed by it. He said, “It just sounds more real.”

Convincing the harshest judge
The client said he had to convince his wife before he could invite us there to install it. She had been thinking they spent too much money already. But once we got here she heard the difference before he did and she said that it was worth it. She was the proponent who said go ahead and buy the 2nd Sound Equalizer to do the subwoofers, because she heard that big a difference. So that, I have to say, is the true wife acceptance factor.
The bass is clean and accurate
After lengthy attempts with various acoustic treatments, the Sound Equalizer was the last attempt to make the bass sound tight and accurate and for the mids and highs to blend from one speaker to the next. We told him no matter what he does with room acoustics, his bass will always be on the muddy side. When he heard our Sound Equalizer demo at our show house, he noticed the sub was tight and accurate and the highs were crisp and clean. He said if we can get half that performance in his theater, he’d be amazed. So the product sold itself.
Dialogue as it’s meant to be heard
Here at our show house we have the Sound Equalizer and speakers behind a screen and the difference it makes is tremendous. Realistically, if we’re doing a microperf or woven screen, the Sound Equalizer will have to be part of every sale. It’s the only way I can guarantee they’ll hear the dialogue the way it was originally intended.
Audyssey’s impact on my business
So far I’ve done 2 Sound Equalizers at 2 different houses. I will do some Audyssey product of some sort in every installation. On upper-end electronics, there is not one other item out there that will make as big a difference as that Sound Equalizer, it’s just that profound.
