Audyssey MultEQ XT32 Awarded Stereophile Accessory of the Year

LAS VEGAS, NV – (Marketwire – January 10, 2012) – Audyssey, a leader in consumer and professional audio, today announced that its newest and most advanced room correction technology, MultEQ XT32, has been named Stereophile’s Joint Accessory of the Year for 2011. The original MultEQ revolutionized sound correction and a successive version, MultEQ XT, was bestowed the same Stereophile honor in 2008. MultEQ XT32’s winning ways began at the 2011 CES when the technology earned a CES Innovations Award in the Enabling Technologies category.

The original MultEQ was designed to overcome acoustical problems in any room. By measuring sound in multiple locations for distortions caused by reflections, a highly room-specific equalization filter is designed and applied. The result is sound that is as close as possible to the original. Building on the principles of MultEQ, MultEQ XT32 uses ultra high-resolution filters and more than ten thousand control points to find and correct even the smallest problems to optimize listening for any space.

Much of MultEQ XT32’s advancements specifically focus on distortions in the lower frequencies where most of the acoustical problems in home and car audio systems are found. This degree of correction was previously thought impossible but Audyssey researchers developed new mathematical methods to optimize the algorithm for many audio products. No other EQ method on the market is capable of this type of performance.
