LOS ANGELES, CA – (Marketwire – June 9, 2011) – Audyssey, a leader in audio technology and consumer audio products, today announced the expansion of its live music series and its partnership with Arlene’s Grocery to bring monthly music events to Manhattan’s Lower East Side. On the second Tuesday of each month, several up-and-coming indie bands will take the very same stage that helped launch The Strokes, Jeff Buckley, The Bravery and many other bands.
“Arlene’s Grocery epitomizes the Lower East Side music culture,” said Julia Darling, booking manager of Arlene’s Grocery. “We’ve served as a launching ground for many bands and, with Audyssey’s help, we’ll be able to feature even more great up-and-coming talent.”
For more than a decade and a half, Arlene’s Grocery has anchored Lower Manhattan’s music scene. While the Lower East Side experienced rapid gentrification in recent years, Arlene’s influence has been constant, serving as a gathering place for musicians and music fans alike. Audyssey, which successfully launched The Neighborhood campaign several months ago in San Francisco, selected Arlene’s Grocery as The Neighborhood’s East Coast venue.
“It is fantastic that Arlene’s Grocery is the next location for The Neighborhood,” said Robb Mason, Audyssey’s vice president of marketing. “This place is as dedicated to music as we are and draws an awesome crowd. It’s a great nod to the neighborhood’s musical history and a perfect match.”
The inaugural show at Arlene’s Grocery takes place June 14 from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. The lineup, hand-picked by the legendary Jonny Cragg, features an eclectic mix of bands, including Smoke and Flowers, Honey Child vs. The Reaver, Inyang Bassey, The Shills and a special guest to be announced at a later date. Anyone 21 and over is welcome, cover charge is $8.
