LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - January 5, 2011) - Audyssey, a leader in audio technology for the home, automotive and theater markets, today announced its iPhone App for the Audyssey South of Market Audio Dock.
Unlike most iPhone docks on the market, the Audyssey South of Market Audio Dock features many ground-breaking audio software technologies to maximize its sound quality. To take even greater advantage of the software inside, Audyssey developed an app that allows users to create new tone controls and custom EQ curves inspired by the Audyssey tools used by professionals in movie theaters and home theaters.
Tone controls for treble and bass are the two most basic operations. While familiar, they are fundamentally different and we call them Fast Slope Tone Controls. If you enjoy a bit more bass, you can add it to the bass region with no change of the midrange frequencies at all. The same is true for the treble control. In addition to these, we have added Tilt, a completely new control that Audyssey co-founder Tomlinson Holman dreamed up nearly 30 years ago, but couldn't implement until audio software finally came of age. Tilt your music toward the bass and the control not only adds bass, but also diminishes treble frequencies. It is the most efficient way to customize the sound.
Those who take advantage of the app will also get to use Audyssey Dynamic Volume, a technology Audyssey brought to market four years ago which is currently integrated into millions of AVRs and TVs. This technology levels the sound to make the soft parts easier to hear while turning down the loud passages. This is especially useful when listening at low levels that might otherwise render the quiet passages inaudible. It also helps the music stay in the same range of volume from song to song.
The final piece of the app, and the part offering the greatest customization, is Custom EQ. Similar in look to parametric graphic equalizers, Custom EQ offers up to 15 user-selected control points for complete mastery of the EQ curve. You can even save curves for easy recall later.
Audio lovers who want the ultimate in sound control now have the app of their dreams. Available now on the iPhone App store, it is free to download and install.
