Audyssey Multiple Subwoofer EQ Technology Now on AVRs

LOS ANGELES, CA – (Marketwire – August 31, 2010) – Audyssey today announced Audyssey Sub EQ HT, which is currently shipping in AVRs from leading audio companies. Audyssey Sub EQ HT allows consumers to properly integrate two subwoofers in their home theater systems. Sub EQ HT makes the integration seamless by first compensating for any level and delay differences between the two subwoofers and then applying Audyssey’s room correction MultEQ technology to both subwoofers together. The result is great sound with fantastic bass.

Bass in small rooms is notoriously difficult to get right. Bass lovers apply various techniques to enhance bass output. Many see the addition of a second subwoofer as the solution – this is true in part, but only if the second subwoofer is properly integrated, not simply added on to an existing set-up. Audyssey Sub EQ HT ensures that the level and delay for each subwoofer is correct before integrating them into the equalization solution. The process takes only a few minutes and results in rich, full bass that covers a wide listening area.

This new technology is a huge leap forward from the days when adding an additional subwoofer was accomplished by adding a y-chord to the subwoofer output of an AVR. In such a case, setting the level and delay was laborious and required specialized equipment. Now, the process is automated and produces better results because it is fully integrated with MultEQ.
