Onkyo makes audio equipment for a wide range of consumers and budgets, ranging from basic living room arrangements to complete home theater installations. In each instance, Audyssey technology figures prominently throughout Onkyo's entire portfolio of AVRs.
For price-conscious consumers looking for a plug-and-play home theater setup, Onkyo offers two Home Theater Packages: The HT-S5300 and the HT-S3300. Connect the speakers (7.1 and 5.1 respectively) and amplifier to your TV, sit back and enjoy. Audyssey EQ is preset and is ready to work with Audyssey Dynamic EQ and Audyssey Dynamic Volume right out of the box. Onkyo also offers the TX-SR308 with Audyssey EQ, Audyssey Dynamic EQ and Audyssey Dynamic Volume. As a stand-alone amplifier, the TX-SR308 gives users the flexibility to add speakers of their own choosing. All of these offerings are 3D ready.
A step up from these AVRs is the TX-SR508 or TX-SR608. These models use Audyssey 2EQ, a quick three-measurement setup for custom EQ and have Audyssey Dynamic EQ and Audyssey Dynamic Volume. The TX-SR608, though, also includes Audyssey DSX. This puts Audyssey DSX well within reach of consumers wanting to add the extra channels, but who need to keep to a strict budget.
Those who want the most immersive audio experience can choose from the TX-NR708, TX-NR808 or TX-NR1008. These AVRs use Audyssey MultEQ for a customized EQ solution, allowing users to take up to six room measurements with the supplied microphone. The devices also feature Audyssey DSX, a technology that provides content for additional speakers to go beyond the usual 5.1 surround system. The 9-channel TX-NR1008 can play both heights and wides for the full Audyssey DSX experience.
The HT-S3300, 5300, TX-SR308, 508 and 608 are currently shipping while the TX-NR708, 808 and 1008 will be available beginning in July.
