Audyssey Announces That Two New Onkyo Network AVRs Incorporate the Company's Latest Audio Technology

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - March 8, 2011) - Audyssey, a global leader in audio technology for the home, automotive, mobile and theater markets, today announced that two new entry-level Onkyo AVRs -- TX-NR609 and TX-NR509 -- feature several of the company's leading audio technologies, bringing a level of sophistication previously unheard of at such affordable pricepoints.

The TX-NR609 is a 7.2-channel AVR with six HDMI inputs, a universal port for Onkyo-branded peripheral devices and nearly every popular digital or analog A/V jack. The TX-NR609 uses Audyssey 2EQ for speaker set-up and room equalization, Audyssey Dynamic EQ to preserve bass and surround sound at every volume level, and Audyssey Dynamic Volume to eliminate spikes and raise soft dialogue for more enjoyable television and movie viewing. Since it is a 7-channel AVR, Onkyo has included Audyssey DSX, which allows customers to re-map the rear surround channels to either wide or height channels for a more immersive surround sound experience.

The TX-NR509 is a 5.1-channel AVR with four HDMI inputs and features Audyssey 2EQ, Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume. Both AVRs feature a front-panel USB port with a direct digital connection for an iPhone or iPod. Additionally, the AVRs are network-capable, so users can stream PC audio and Internet radio, as well as simplify the process of making firmware updates. To offer users even more flexibility, each can be controlled by Onkyo's Remote App. It is a free download for the iPod or iPhone and works on the iPad, too. Both AVRs provide compatibility with Windows® 7 and DLNA.

The TX-NR609 carries a suggested list price of $599 and the TX-NR509 comes in at $399, making these feature-laden AVRs excellent choices for consumers upgrading their home theater systems on a tight budget.
