LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - February 9, 2011) - Audyssey, a leader in audio technology for the home, automotive, mobile and theater markets, today announced that Christos Lagomichos has agreed to consult with the company as a special advisor. With nearly three decades of experience developing solutions for the digital home, he has successfully brought a variety of products to market: set-top boxes, digital televisions and home audio components. His years of experience overseeing each link in the CE chain, combined with his extensive network of connections to the supplier and manufacturing industries, make him a valuable addition to the Audyssey team.
"Licensing audio technology can be a fiercely competitive market and bringing Christos aboard in an advisory role signals just how deeply committed we are to strengthen not only our foothold in home theater audio, but also to explore other opportunities within the digital home," said Neal Osterhaus, Audyssey's chief operating officer. "His connections across the entire CE market will no doubt open many doors for Audyssey."
Most recently, Lagomichos was president of Trident Microsystems, a global leader in semiconductor solutions for digital televisions and set-top boxes. Trident was a successful spin-off from NXP Semiconductors, where he spent three years at the helm of NXP's digital consumer business. Through organic growth and acquisition, Lagomichos grew this business unit into a $1B operation. Prior to NXP/Trident, he spent more than two decades at STMicroelectronics, where he presided over several business units, including the Semicustom Products Division, Consumer Broadband Division and the Home Entertainment Group. Lagomichos's quick ascension through the ranks and his track record of building successful organizations within STMicroelectronics and NXP/Trident demonstrate the value he brings to Audyssey as a special advisor.
"I've spent many years deeply engrained in the CE market developing solutions for the digital home. In every case, audio quality is fundamental to the customer experience and it's often the first impression that someone takes away from their initial interaction with that product," said Lagomichos. "Audyssey's approach to audio is a generation ahead of anything else I've seen. I believe Audyssey is poised for a big marketshare expansion and I'm excited to be part of the team that's going to make it all happen."
Lagomichos joined Audyssey in February and immediately engaged with the company's licensing organization and executive committee to fast-track opportunities with existing and prospective licensing partners.
