General Installer FAQ

What is the Audyssey Installer Program?
The Audyssey Installer Program is designed to provide professional installers with the ability to perform MultEQ calibrations using a more advanced set of tools than what is available to consumers in the built-in version of MultEQ. Installers charge their customers a fee for this service. These tools come with the Audyssey Installer Kit that can be purchased through local distribution. The Installer Kit can be used to calibrate many different brands of receivers and processors that are Audyssey MultEQ Pro® enabled. A complete list of these models can be found here.

How much should I charge for an Audyssey MultEQ Pro Calibration?
There is no MSRP for an Audyssey MultEQ Pro® Calibration. Pricing is set by the installer—a survey of all Audyssey installers found that the average selling price for the calibration is $500. An installer can adjust this price up or down depending on the number of measurements, time spent on the job, and expertise using the software application.

What is an Audyssey MultEQ Pro® License Key?
To perform a MultEQ Pro® Calibration for an Audyssey Installer-Ready product, you must purchase a license key for each product you are to calibrate. NOTE: License keys are not needed for the Audyssey Sound Equalizer. A License Key allows the MultEQ Pro Software to communicate with the Audyssey Installer-Ready product that you will be calibrating. These keys are tied to each individual Audyssey Installer-Ready product and must be used every time a MultEQ Pro® Room Calibration is performed. An unlimited number of calibrations on the same product can be performed using the license key.

Can I use the same license for multiple receivers?
No. Each Audyssey Installer-Ready product requires a separate license.

Do License Keys expire?
Yes. Once you purchase a License Key it can be used any time in the next 30 days. If the installation happens after 30 days or if you wish to return to the customer for a re-calibration at a later time, you will have to re-generate a new key (at no cost). This is done by logging in on the Audyssey Installer website and clicking “generate new key” (under Purchase/Activate MultEQ Pro Licenses).

Can I use the Audyssey Installer kit with the Crestron AMS?
No. The Audyssey Installer Kit is used to calibrate the Audyssey Sound Equalizer, Denon, Integra, and NAD installer-ready products. The Crestron AMS uses a proprietary Installer Kit for Audyssey MultEQ Pro® Calibrations. For more information and to purchase a kit, please contact Crestron at 1-888-CRESTRON.

Can I install the MultEQ Pro® software application on more than one computer?
Yes. The MultEQ Pro® software application may be installed on multiple computers.

Can I sell an Installer Kit to a customer? How much does it cost?
An installer may sell an Audyssey installer kit to a customer so he may calibrate his own system. MSRP for the Audyssey Installer Kit is $550. An installer should NOT re-sell his own kit—this will erase any license history for the installer's account. To provide the best service to a customer who wants a kit, an installer should:

  • Purchase the customer's license key through the Audyssey Installer website Sell the customer an installer kit and license key
  • Provide the customer with the license key
  • Administer the license key as the customer needs to re-calibrate his system after the key has expired. The customer will use his own installer kit to calibrate the system with the license key that the installer provides. NOTE: installers will need to re-generate license keys after the 30-day expiration period

How do I upload and print customer certificates?
After the installation is complete, upload the MultEQ Pro® Calibration results to the Audyssey Installer Website. This allows for:

  • Storing and printing customer certificates.
  • Storing the installation speaker delays, levels, subwoofer crossovers, and equipment information.

To correctly print customer certificates, set the printing margins to their minimum values within the page setup of the browser. From this browser menu, open the File menu and select Page Setup. Enter 0 for all 4 margins and your browser will automatically adjust them to their minimum values. You may print out this certificate later using the Audyssey Installer Website which stores all of your certificates.
